VANDEN ELZEN, John - Peacefully at home, in the loving care of his family, on Saturday, April 27, John Vanden Elzen of Mt Brydges in his 97th year. Beloved husband of Catherine Vanden Elzen (Gubbels) (2010), his wife of 61 years. Loved father of John Vanden Elzen and Ann Lumsden of Cedar Valley, Mary Ann Vanden Elzen and Robert Bezeau of Kitchener, Patricia and Joe Stock of Mt Brydges, Dianne and Ed Nugent of Sarasota, Florida, Margaret and Bernie Plagens of Ayr, Joseph and Laurie Vanden Elzen of Mt Brydges, Therese and Steve Wright of Guelph, Catherine and Laurent Van Arkel of Dresden & Lorraine and Don Moir of Lucan. Remembered and loved by grandchildren Lynda Vanden Elzen, Jonathan, Michael and Paul Bezeau, Christine (Tim) Nutting, Peter and Stephen (Jessica) Stock, Kearney (Izabela) and Brenan (Trina) Nugent, Mark and Katie Plagens, Jennifer, Marika, Katherine and Michael Vanden Elzen, Catherine, Patrice and Stephanie Wright, Ian and Laura Van Arkel, Andrew, Luke and Emily Moir. Also remembered by 6 great grand children. Sadly missed by sisters and brother, Marie Vanden Bosch of Alymer, and Jos (Maria) Vanden Elzen, Mien Vanden Elzen, Tini (Leo) Vander Heyden all of The Netherlands. Predeceased by Catharina and Willem Tielemans, Johanna and Jan Smulders, Antonia Heynen, Piet Vanden Elzen, Bert Vanden Elzen, Joe Vanden Bosch, Pierre Gubbels, Cleo Gubbels, Maria Vander Heyden, Gerard Gubbels and Dora Van Paassen,. John and Catherine were married on May 2, 1949 in Helmond, The Netherlands, and soon immigrated to Canada. They settled on their farm in the Mt. Brydges area after a number of years of share-growing in the Simcoe and Barrie areas. They proudly celebrated 61 years of married life with their children and grandchildren in 2010. The family is most grateful for the wonderful support of CCAC London and Middlesex and the VON. Heartfelt thanks to Anita for her loving and faithful care of Dad in his last 15 months.
